Summary
Luciano Huck was criticized for comments deemed biased during recording at Parque do Xingu in August 2025; the report released in December did not include a retraction, sparking reactions on social networks.
On Sunday 21, Globo broadcast a report recorded at Parque do Xingu, in August 2025, with presenter Luciano Huck, 54, and singer Anitta, 32. At the time of the recordings, the presenter was the target of criticism for statements considered biased behind the scenes of the report.
In August 2025, during the recording of the report, a video shared on social media, before the special broadcast, showed Luciano Huck posing with members of the tribe and asking them not to appear with a cell phone in their hand or in “common” clothing. “Clean up your culture there,” the presenter said in the video. These statements were criticized by indigenous associations.
On Sunday the 21st, the report was broadcast and showed Huck and Anitta’s visit to the Ipatsé village of the Kuikuro people, considered one of the 49 villages in Xingu Park. In the video they talk about the people, the culture and the importance of preserving indigenous territory.
During a ceremony with traditional dance, Anitta was invited by the women of the village to participate in the ritual. Initially, the singer was afraid to join them. However, he gave in. During the visit, the singer and presenter also received traditional paintings as a welcome sign from the tribe.
Then, a visit by the Globo team to Chief Raoni, in the village of Kapôt, was planned. After that, the report was closed.
After the report aired, the presenter reiterated what he had already said after the video reverberated: “I wanted to reaffirm my commitment to the indigenous cause. I was, am and will continue to be an ally.”
The report of Earth asked Globo to comment on the matter, but there has been no response so far.
