The Mägo de Oz group published this Friday a harsh statement addressed to the “couch inquisitors” and the critics of this group for its intention to participate in the next edition of Viña Rock, one of the pro-Israeli fund KKR’s festivals.
“You who believe yourself to be so advanced ethically and politically, you who point your finger at the percentage of investment in a festival… Do you really know the origin of everything you consume?“, asks the group in a publication on its social networks.
Txus Di Fellatio, leader of the rock group, signs this statement in which he defends that “the real world is not a sterile laboratory of morality”, but “a complex mud where the difference is made by those who use the system to shout the truth, and not by those who stay outside the system boasting of a cleanliness that they do not have”.
“If anyone thinks that playing at a festival is language-binding, they don’t know the Wizard of Oz. Capital doesn’t have an ideology, but we do. And our ideology is freedom and support for the Palestinian people», he then proclaims, before emphasizing that they will continue to “denounce the horror, who owns the scene”.
Injustice Speaker
In this sense, Mägo de Oz boasts in his statement of having demonstrated its consistency “with the facts” and taking out the Palestinian flag live.
“We have denounced the genocide that the State of Israel is committing and we will continue to do so at Viña Rock,” he said.
“We we use the festival loudspeaker to denounce injustice. “You are using cancellation to indicate the capital of a company, when you are probably using services and technologies financed by the same funds that scandalize you so much,” underlines Di Fellatio, who concludes his writing with a resounding: “Go fuck them!!!”
As was the case during this year’s festival season, several events ultimately owned by investment fund KKR are under public scrutiny due to the genocide in Gaza. In recent days this has been the cause of the removal of artists from its poster like Bob Vylan, Grex or Sober.
