The cold front that arrives in São Paulo next Sunday (12/28) worries the authorities who will meet this Friday (12/26) at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes to define strategies to prevent possible damage caused by the rain. The meeting will be led by the interim governor, Felício Ramuth (PSD), with the mayor of the capital, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), and the mayors of 13 municipalities on the coast.
The rains are not expected to be very heavy, according to Civil Defense forecasts, but they are expected to persist until January 4, when there is a risk of thunderstorms in the capital São Paulo and in the municipalities of Baixada Santista and the north coast. Among the areas that could be most affected are the eastern regions of São Paulo that border Minas Gerais.

In the Civil Defense bulletin, which summoned the mayors to a meeting, the organization asks for special attention in vulnerable areas.
“To date, weather models do not indicate the potential for severe storms to occur, however, forecast precipitation accumulations are significant,” the document obtained by Metropolises.
The day with the heaviest rain forecast is January 3, Saturday next week. On that day, the capital will receive around 20 millimeters of rain, which is not considered serious. However, the scenario becomes a little trickier because it is predicted that in the next ten days, accumulated precipitation could reach 115 millimeters.
This Friday’s meeting is part of the actions of “SP Semper Alerta – Operação Chuvas 2025/2026”. The program was launched in December by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), with the announcement of investments of 69.5 million reais for civil defense.
Before the meeting, the acting governor, Felício Ramuth, will sign the agreement for civil defense works in the towns of Monte Castelo, São João do Pau D’Alho and Álvares Florence.
