Tricolor agrees to loan young goalkeeper to Portuguese football until 2026, with purchase clause
Grêmio transferred goalkeeper Adriel to Portuguese football. The 24-year-old will play for AVS thanks to a loan contract valid until June 30, 2026, with a clause allowing the definitive acquisition of part of his economic rights.
The contract provides for a purchase option and sharing of rights
In the agreement signed between the clubs, AVS will be able to buy back 70% of the athlete’s economic rights at the end of the loan term. If this option is exercised, Grêmio will continue with 30% linked to the player. The amounts involved in the negotiation have not been officially disclosed.
Adriel is expected to report to his new club next week when he leaves for Portugal. Until recently, the goalkeeper played for Athletic, of Minas Gerais, where he remained on loan until the end of Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.
Property consolidated into Series B of 2025
During the 2025 season, Adriel has been a constant presence in the Minas Gerais team. He appeared in 30 matches, all as a starter, and played an important role in the campaign which saw Athletic finish 15th in the national second division.
Grêmio trajectory and off-field episodes
Revealed by Grêmio’s youth teams, Adriel became owner of the main team at the start of 2023. However, he ended up losing space due to disciplinary issues, publicly cited by then coach Renato Portaluppi. Delays in club activities and an interview granted without authorization weighed on the decision of the technical commission.
Between 2023 and 2024, the goalkeeper also played on loan at Bahia, but had few opportunities on the pitch. The Bahian club has chosen not to exercise the purchase clause at the end of the contract. Despite the temporary transfers, Adriel maintains a contract with Grêmio until the end of 2027.
