Leading online platform for LGBTQI+ relationships, Grindr has created a collection of thirty-six looks in partnership with designer Michael Schmidt. The pieces are made entirely of wool – the designer’s specialty – from the Rainbow Wool Project farm, which only breeds sheep that are not attracted to females, but to other sheep. The parade took place in November and featured productions paying tribute to different professions.

Look from the collection
The objective of the collection entitled I Wool Survive, in addition to celebrating the LGBTQI+ community, was to send a message of love and resistance. It has already been scientifically proven that at least 8% of rams are born without being interested in sheep, but rather in other males of the same species. Most farms cull these sheep because they interpret them as a loss of production because they are not fulfilling their primary role, procreation.

However, the farm of pastor Michael Stücke, located in Cologne, Germany, is part of the project. Rainbow woolwhich has a different proposition: instead of sacrificing these sheep, Stücke saves them. He therefore created a farm with only gay sheep.
The Rainbow Wool project started in 2024 and features the Stücke farm
According to Stücke, the collaboration with Grindr This is proof that being gay is part of nature itself. He also argues that the wool of these sheep is not just a material, but a message woven by animals that live in freedom and are truly loved.
Rainbow Wool also said on its website that it would auction the pieces and the proceeds would be used for LGBTQ+ initiatives around the world. Additionally, Grindr said it intends to collaborate with the farm on future projects.
Inside the Grindr Parade
michael schmidt is a renowned designer who has worked with artists such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Cher, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Madonna and Lil Nas. The objective was to combine humor and sensuality in the collection.
One of the looks that got the most attention was that of the Fighter, which featured a sort of all-wool jumpsuit.
For Schmidt, this collection gives visibility to the mistreatment suffered by animals who demonstrate same-sex attraction. He believes this is a “painful reminder of the prejudices that continue to affect LGBT communities around the world”.
“It was a pleasure to create this casual collection that also addresses a very serious theme,” said the designer.
