With Ter Stegen and Jofre, without Joan García and without Var; With cries of “yes we can” in Guadalajara and trouble with two extra stands with which the local club wanted to make a splash with the visit of Barça, the match started half an hour later … late and with that feeling of cup nights where the big teams can only botch it. It’s a strange feeling because losing seems impossible, and that’s not the case at all, and the undeniable effort it takes to beat a lesser but highly motivated team doesn’t help them recognize you at all.
Both teams tried to score from a long distance, but the one who came closest was Eric García with a poisonous shot that Dani Vicente finally managed to stop, in two halves. Boring game, with cameras in one booth, hard to watch on TV, not really difficult, but unpleasant. Lamine Yamal tried to overwhelm but was unable to do so even against Preferente’s defenses in the relegation zone. Guadalajara came from time to time but their attackers wasted what little their play gave. They defended like wolves, yes, leaving the honor of their club and their professionalism very high. Dani Vicente saved what Christensen then Rashford tried from distance after a foul; and even though Ter Stegen didn’t make any mistakes, you could see in his starts and in his footwork how good Joan García is.
Lamine used classic resources, such as his center with the outside, but without much luck. We should start dividing this boy up by what each of his games costs us. Guadalajara tried his luck wherever he could and as fast as he could, but was missing the goal. In the final minutes of the first half, it became more evident that the home team did not have Barça as their main rival but rather their technical limitations. They didn’t know what to do with the ball, neither when they were driving nor when they were able to run and finish. Despite this, an uninspired Barça failed to assert its theoretical superiority and gain a lead on the scoreboard. We have to give Eric the credit and dedication to finish and even defend with a header despite the mask he has to wear.
Cubarsi replaced Marc Bernal after the break and Dani Vicente once again saved his team by breaking down a good wall between Roony and Rashford. Guadalajara had its drawbacks and came close to scoring at least once. From the 55th minute, the hammering of the visitors became very overwhelming and the goal was taken into account in any game. A titanic local resistance, but with no other resource than honor and crossing their fingers to try to avoid what seemed inevitable. Despite some impurities, Dani Vicente was the absolute hero of his team, with borderline saves.

Guadalajara was trying to buy time and make sure as little happened as possible, but minutes are slow when you just have to hold out against an army so superior to yours. Laminate without appearing. Christensen saved what could have been the first goal of the game. And just when Barca were about to enter their panic minutes with a difficult-to-break draw, De Jong delivered a good cross that Christensen completed – a good game from the Dane – to decide the evening and the draw. Guadalajara did not throw in the towel, their attitude must be praised, and Ter Stegen avoided the draw thanks to some good saves, probably the last two he will make with the Barça jersey. Very disappointing Lamine, who in the 80th minute, through simple lack of attention, missed a clear shot. Rashford made it 0-2 in the 90th minute. Barça was in agony against a team of a very inferior category and which did not do much to show it.
