The socialist candidate for president of the Junta of Extremadura, Miguel Angel Gallardowarned this Sunday against the PP’s infrastructure model in Extremadura, which he linked to the “Ayuso model”, based on privatization and trade with the public.
Gallardo made these statements in the town of Zafra, in Badajoz, where he held a meeting with his neighbors and shared the outline of his government program, focused on strengthen public infrastructuremobility and industrial development of the region.
In this sense, he is committed to recovering the 2+1 option (hybrid between two-lane highway and motorway) for the highway between Zafra and neighboring Jerez de los Caballeroswhich the government of María Guardiola paralyzed to transform it into a highway, but which did not materialize.
“Today, there is no motorway, no 2+1. What there is is as always: nothing. Zero kilometers infrastructure built by the Popular Party in Extremadura”, he denounced.
It is for this reason that it reaffirmed its commitment to immediately relaunch and promote the project of a road which will mean more security, better conditions of competitiveness and a powerful stimulus for industrial development and employment, particularly for young people in the region.
“When they talk about 2+1 again in their program, they do it as part of a public-private collaboration approach that actually hides the toll highways. And we are clearly going to fight against this“, he assured.
Faced with this, he defended the socialist model of public infrastructure without tolls, with a determined commitment to mobility and equal opportunities for all municipalities in Extremadura.
In terms of transport, he highlighted the improvements already made to the railway network thanks to the support of the Spanish government, such as the operational route between Badajoz and Cáceres, with four daily frequencies and a journey time of 46 minutes.
Gallardo indicated that from the 21st, if he wins the elections, a real Mobility plan for Extremadura and a single transport ticket, which will allow better conditions and greater connection between cities, facilitating access to services, employment and opportunities without having to leave our municipalities.
