The president of the Vallaisan employers’ union Cecot and vice-president of Foment del Treball, Xavier Panés, was very critical this Saturday with regard to the management of the Verifactu electronic invoicing regulation system and its postponement by the government. In program statements … The conversations of COPE Catalonia and Andorra with the participation of ABC, said that in his organization “we do not applaud this decision because it sends a very powerful message of legal insecurity”. in addition to harming businesses and technology providers who had already invested to meet planned deadlines.which has aroused distrust while discouraging investment.
According to Panés, a more appropriate measure would have been to remove the sanctions regime for a year, which coincides with the postponement of the entry into force of Verifactu, because “the digitalization of companies is an unstoppable process.” Concerning the image of the business world, he criticized the fact that the opinions of part of the government are linked to their ideology, generally far left, which “they see us with adversion smoking cigars as if we were still in the first industrial revolution, and not as a good for society.
The president of the employers’ union Vallesana also warned of the direct link between increased absenteeism at work and falling productivity, a phenomenon which, according to him, compromises the competitiveness of businesses and threatens the viability of public finances and the welfare state itself. “One of the effects that decreases productivity is absenteeism,” said Panés, who also emphasized that its impact is immediate and affects not only the performance of companies, but also “This also has consequences for public finances”. In this context, he warned of the perverse effects that would occur if structural reforms are not adopted. “If we do nothing, it will mean a disaster in terms of public finances” in addition to endangering the welfare state, he warned.
Panés insisted on the need for rigorous management of public resources and stressed that “public money does not exist, public money is a mistake”, since “all money is always private” and comes from the efforts of citizens and businesses. It is for this reason that he defended that administrations have the obligation to manage these resources with efficiency, foresight and responsibility.
Regarding productivity, he stressed that sustainable economic growth involves producing more with the same resources, betting on automation, robotization and Industry 4.0. In this process, he warned of an obvious risk: “The big challenge is that small and medium-sized businesses are not excluded from this technological transformation”.
Panés also addressed the challenge of immigration and defended a policy necessary for the economy, but well-ordered and in which businessmen play a more important role. “People have to work”underlined by recalling that “the people who come do not leave their country of origin for pleasure and come to look for work”. In this sense, he opted for regulated immigration, linked to the labor market and, as much as possible, initially hired, as a way to guarantee integration and avoid precarious situations.
