Heavy rains that fell in the early hours of Saturday (13) in Rio caused damage in parts of the city. Falling trees, toppled poles and blocked roads were recorded. According to the Rio Warning System, the five highest accumulations of precipitation, from 0:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., were recorded in the stations of Jacarepaguá/Tanque, with 11.8 mm, Anchieta, which reached 10.6 mm, and Irajá, which reached 9.8 mm. The neighborhoods of Piedade and Madureira also experienced rainfall with 9.0 mm and 6.8 mm respectively.

At 3 a.m., the Rio Operations and Resilience Center declared a high severity level, valid until 3 a.m. on Sunday (14).
The rain started around 2 a.m., when the Rio Alerta system recorded light rain on Av. Brasil/Mendanha station, with 0.4 mm. Quickly, clusters of moderate to heavy rain spread over several areas of the city. Lightning and gusts of wind also occurred, reaching 50.0 km/h, according to REDEMET.
In the early hours of the morning, Comlurb teams worked on the removal of a fallen tree on Rua Professor Eurico Rabelo, near gate 11 of the Maracanã, in the northern area of the capital. One lane of the road was closed for approximately 1 hour.
Another tree fell on the wiring of Rua Professor Alberto Meier, on Ilha do Governador. Following the impact, a pole was toppled. A situation similar to that which occurred in Rua Cardoso Junior, near Rua das Laranjeiras, in the South zone.
Branches fell on Rua Professor Luiz Catanhede, also in Laranjeiras. Cabiúna Street, in Senador Vasconcelos, in the western zone of Rio, was partially closed due to the fall of a tree, near Mário Mendes Street.
A pole fell on Senador Vergueiro Street, in Flamengo. The road was partially closed at Rua Tucumã. CET-Rio was on site to facilitate traffic.
In the morning, the rain eased in the city, becoming light in places. Around 8 a.m. there was a record moderate wind at Forte de Copacabana (49.0 km/h), Vila Militar (44.6 km/h) and Marambaia (40.3 km/h) stations.
