One of the most iconic phrases of the actor Héctor Alterio, who died this Saturday at the age of 96, was “The whore worth being alive.”
According to Agencia Noticias Argentinas, Alterio played Cecilia Dopazo in Caballos Salvajes (1995), a film directed by Marcelo Piñeiro, alongside Leonardo Sbaraglia and Fernán Mirás.
The interpreter revealed in radio statements that the phrase was an idea from the director, who called the author Aida Bortnik to him “because he had to close a sequence” and told her about the location where the filming took place.
The Oscar winner for “The Official History” (1986) said: “We are on a mountain in the middle of a field and the character of Héctor is alone.” __IP__
“And so he told her almost in detail what was happening in every scene. Then she was inspired and asked him, ‘Tell Héctor that his character should fucking say that it’s worth being alive.’ Without hesitation, Marcelo added it and I later said it with all my heart,” she recalls.
