Tylor Chase’s father, Joseph Mendez Jr, told the Daily Mail that his son suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, but refused to get help. Chase’s “Ned’s School Survival Guide” co-star Daniel Curtis Lee and Los Angeles-based influencer and entrepreneur Jacob “Jake” Harris also joined the loop to help the former child star.
“I was finally able to contact a crisis center who was able to come see him and do an assessment the same day,” Harris told the Daily Mail. “They determined he needed immediate help and took him to a local hospital for 72 hours of treatment. He’s in good hands now. And the future looks bright. He just needed someone to do something to help him.”
Tylor Chase, now 36, became known for playing Martin Qwerly in the series “Ned’s School Survival Manual”, which aired on Nickelodeon between 2004 and 2007.
The images, posted on TikTok and went viral in September, show Chase in Riverside being approached by a user of the platform. When asked if he had ever acted on television, he replied with a smile that he had been in the Nickelodeon production, thus confirming his identity.
In the video, the former actor introduces himself and claims to be in the city for “a Christian movement to take action”. The recording generated a lot of traction on social media and led the content creator to launch an online fundraising campaign, which raised just over $1,200. However, shortly after, the initiative was withdrawn at the request of Chase’s mother.
In messages posted by the tiktoker himself, the actor’s mother expressed concern about her son’s health and said that he needed medical attention and not money. According to her, Tylor would have difficulty managing his resources and accepting care. “He needs medical attention but refuses,” he wrote.
