
hiberus accelerates its international expansion with a strategic operation in Latin America. The technology company acquires 100% of Telefónica Tech’s operations in Colombia, Mexico and Chile after signing an alliance with the multinational that will allow the subsidiary of the Spanish operator to continue serving its multinational clients in the region. The operation, the amount of which has not been disclosed, will be carried out guaranteeing the continuity of labor and contractual relationships, in accordance with current regulations, and without impacting the services that Telefónica Tech provides to its customers.
Operationally, the Aragonese technology company of the Henneo Group – owner of hiberus and publisher of 20minutos – is strengthening its capabilities in cybersecurity and cloud, as stated by the CEO of hiberus, Sergio López, after the closing of the operation. “We have laid the foundations for a strategic alliance with Telefónica with a long-term vision and, in addition, “This decision allows us to advance our Azul Infinito strategic plan.”he pointed out. This roadmap will guide the company until 2030 with the objective of becoming a global company with a turnover of 1 billion euros and 12,000 employees. Thanks to the acquisition of the Latin American activities of the subsidiary Telefónica, hiberus is making progress in achieving some of the objectives of the plan and approaches the beginning of 2026 with 4,500 workers, after adding 500 professionals to their team trained in cybersecurity, “cloud” and “IoT” with the latest operation, and strengthen its turnover to the tune of 400 million euros.
The firm specializing in ICT, technological consulting and digital transformation is thus returning to the forefront with a qualitative leap in order to consolidate its positioning in offering IT services. relocation towards North America and to be competitive in the local markets of Latin America, where in recent years it has carried out operations such as the acquisition of Devomex – Mexican subsidiary of multinational technology leader Devoteam -, the purchase of the majority of the technological link with the BTS group which allowed it to land in Ecuador and Colombia, or the joint venture with Grupo Clarín to create a leading technology consulting company in Argentina.
With this operation, subject to the usual authorizations and procedures in this type of operation, hiberus will entrust around 40% of its turnover to activities outside Spanish bordersagainst 25% that it represented until now. The Zaragoza company’s international commitment is also notable in Europe, where it has strengthened its presence in the north of the continent with strategic operations in Poland and Morocco, designed as key platforms for the French and German markets, respectively. In total, hiberus is present in 15 countries with 35 offices (including 18 outside Spain).
Telefónica strengthens its divestment in Latin America
On the Telefónica side, the sale finds a a natural complement to its divestment strategy in Latin Americawhich accelerated last year to focus on its priority markets: Spain, Brazil, Germany and the United Kingdom. Therefore, the company finds in Hiberus a strategic “partner” to guarantee the continuity of operations, both of equipment and services in local markets and to its corporate clients through the aforementioned agreement.

Long-term strategic alliance
Thus a long-term strategic collaboration alliance is born, which will promote the commitment of both companies to convert strategic opportunities at a global level, with a particular focus on large technological contracts in Europe, further supported by the strengthening of the hiberus team in Latin America with highly specialized profiles. The operation will be led by its country managers: Jennifer Ashley Suarez in Colombia, with more than 18 years of experience at Telefónica and leadership in B2B and Telefónica Tech; Rafael Arturo Gonzalez in Mexico, with solid sales and management experience in companies such as IBM and Telefónica; And David Nieto in Chile, systems engineer with extensive experience in technology management and cybersecurity projects in leading companies such as Claro, Fortinet or Cisco.
