The dividend account
In the race to calculate profits and dividends accrued until the end of the year due to the new withholding tax in 2026 for high-income earners, listed companies have announced profits of 124.1 billion reais since October. Of this volume, BRL 52.9 billion will be paid by the end of the month and a portion of BRL 57.8 billion is planned for next year. The calculations come from the Itaú BBA strategic team. By tracking different sectors, the bank’s analysts expect 20 additional announcements by the end of 2025 of similar value. In the third quarter, B3-listed companies announced R$55.0 billion, and in the fourth quarter of 2024 the equivalent of R$92.2 billion. The acceleration that we are now observing in the fourth quarter of 2025, with an increase of almost 35% in 12 months, results from the planned exemption of profits and dividends approved until December 31 in the transition phase.
