Senator Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) told allies and São Paulo Governor, Tarcisio de Freitas (R), that he has been selected by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) as the group’s candidate to run for president of the republic in next year’s elections.
Flávio’s selection was revealed by the Metropoles portal and confirmed by Bound. Flavio visited his father in prison on Tuesday (2), at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasilia. The two talked for about half an hour.
The senator traveled to São Paulo on Thursday (4) to inform the São Paulo governor of Bolsonaro’s decision, according to reports from four people.
The leader of the Liberal Party in the chamber, Sostines Cavalcante (RJ), told the reporter that Bolsonaro had in fact told his son that the senator should run for Palacio do Planalto.
Upon leaving the PF, on Tuesday, the senator said that he apologized to his stepmother, Michele Bolsonaro (PL), for the fight in which the PL platform was involved in Ceará and explained the situation to his father. The senator also attributed the incident to “contact noise” and said that Michelle was at the heart of the Liberal Party.
