As the summer holidays approach, children’s camps are once again enlivening the city with programs combining sport, creativity, conviviality and outdoor activities, bringing together proposals ranging from thematic days and fun workshops to sports practices, nautical leisure activities, music, adventure circuits and initiatives aimed at socio-emotional development.

Among this year’s options, Alegra is preparing an edition at two locations, Icaraí and the Oceânica Region, with thematic days and proposals ranging from stand up paddle for teenagers to water games, including music and fun workshops. In Icaraí, the camp takes place at the Colégio São Vicente de Paulo, while in the Oceanic Region it occupies an area of six thousand square meters integrated between Quintal de Contos and the Colégio Paulo Freire, aimed at children aged 2 to 9 years old.
— The idea is that children have complete experiences, with movement, imagination and games that take them out of their routine. In this edition we will present characters such as Mr. Internet, the villain of childhood — explains Alessandra Durão, head of Alegra.
Another traditional city project, Colônia Cambalhota, carried out at the Colégio Maia Vinagre, in Santa Rosa, reinforces its sporting vocation with targeted courses in football, Olympic gymnastics, basketball and wrestling. The planning also includes classic playground games and supervised free time, during which teachers participate in activities that promote organization and coexistence.
At Clube Central, the traditional colony coordinated by Professor Paulo Hage returns after a winter break, bringing together swimming pool, camping, leisure, workshops, surfing, slacklining and sports activities in the afternoon, taking advantage of the structure of the Icaraí club. Today the same team is organizing the arrival of Santa Claus in Praia de Icaraí, scheduled for 11 a.m., when the good old man will land by helicopter for the third year in a row, in an action carried out with the support of the town hall. Then he heads to the club lobby, where he poses for photos with his families.
At Praia Clube São Francisco, Turma do Tio Elmo opens the month of December with a special Christmas edition, aimed at children aged 4 to 12. The program includes thematic workshops, such as making letters for Santa, decorations, baubles for the tree and even Christmas hats, during short, intense days that mix creativity and a festive atmosphere.
Another highlight is the Sesc Niterói Summer Camp, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years old. With the theme “Learning to meet challenges”, the edition seeks to develop socio-emotional skills through practical experiences, always in the afternoon. The proposal includes activities that encourage teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, creativity and self-knowledge, thus strengthening the institution’s tradition of combining leisure and education in a safe and welcoming environment.
