The project could reduce the former president’s sentence from 27 years and three months in prison to 20 years and reduce the length of stay in closed regime to two years and four months; the text now goes to the Federal Senate
THE The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday 9 the PL Dosimetrywhich proposes reducing the sentences of those convicted of coup attempts. The score was 291 for, 148 against and one abstention. The proposal could reduce the time spent by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the closed regime. The text now goes to the Federal Senate.
According to the President of the Senate, David Alcolumbre (União-AP), the the project should be scheduled next week. Alcolumbre had previously suggested that, if the project was approved by the House, he would transmit the text to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Senate this Tuesday.
The project amends the Penal Code and the Penal Execution Law in articles referring to crimes committed by those who participated in the events of January 8.
