After playing its last Ligue 1 match in 2025 (3-2 victory against Metz), Paris Saint-Germain is now turning all its attention to the Intercontinental Cup final. But after all, how will the European champion arrive for the confrontation with Flamengo?
The French team is going to Doha, Qatar this Sunday, in the middle of a marathon trip. The match against Rio de Janeiro will be the third in a row away from home. Last Wednesday, PSG drew against Athletic (0-0) in Bilbao, Spain, in the Champions League. This Saturday he traveled to Metz, almost on the border with Germany, where he beat the home team in Ligue 1. Despite the extra travel, the management understood that it was worth returning to Paris after this match for the players to spend the night with family before the six-hour flight to the Arab country.

The delegation will arrive in Qatar late Sunday and will not have much time to recover. There will be two training sessions, one Monday and one Tuesday, before the match against Flamengo.
To minimize this attrition, coach Luis Enrique spared most of the main athletes from the match against the bottom Ligue 1 team. Chevalier (who was listed again after two weeks out due to injury), Nuno Mendes, João Neves, Doué, Barcola and Kvaratskhelia were left out of the starting lineup. Of these, only the last three were used in the final phase.
Despite this, the team will experience significant losses. The main one is that of right-back Hakimi, who is recovering from a sprained left ankle in Morocco. Another is that of defender Marquinhos, who is nursing a hip injury. Although his condition is not serious, Luis Enrique has already stated that the Brazilian is unlikely to participate in the intercontinental final.
Current winner of the Ballon d’Or, Dembelé is in doubt. The striker has been diagnosed with the virus which has already knocked him out in the last two games. See if you can recover in time.
These absences threaten a positive season so far for PSG, who have recorded 15 wins, five draws and just three defeats. The team is leader of the French Championship (with one more match than Lens, second) and third in the Champions League phase.
