In front of investigators from the São Paulo Civil Police (PCSP), facing the teams responsible for the case, Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, 40, kept his gaze down and his face closed. As testimony was about to begin, the suspect took a deep breath, listened to legal instructions and announced that he would use his constitutional right to remain silent. As a result, he then refused to cooperate with investigators.
This reserved position marked the start of formal work after the arrest of Alex Leandro, 40, on Tuesday (12/9). He is under investigation for the crime of femicide committed against his wife, Maria Katiane da Silva, aged 25, who died after falling from the 10th floor of a building in the city of São Paulo. During the police action, teams seized an iPhone 17, owned by Alex Leandro, which was sent for forensic examination. The goal is to verify messages, recordings and other data that can help clarify what happened in the first hours of the crime.
Five minutes
The incident occurred in the early hours of November 29 and was recorded by the condominium’s security cameras. The footage shows Maria Katiane being dragged through the car park as she tried to resist the attacks. The violence continues inside the elevator, where the suspect tries to grab the victim’s neck.
Even though she tries to hold on, Maria cannot escape. Less than two minutes later, Alex Leandro abruptly takes her out of the elevator. About a minute after leaving with the victim, he returns to the elevator alone, puts his hands on his head and sits down, in a gesture that appears desperate.
According to the police, the entire episode recorded by the cameras lasted less than five minutes, reinforcing the speed and violence of the action.

Kidnapping
The investigation also confirmed that Alex Leandro, known as Alex Bispo, is not a first-time offender. He was among those involved in a lightning kidnapping in 2003, the target of which was the nephew of former senator Eduardo Suplicy and current deputy of São Paulo.
The case remains under investigation by the civil police, who are now awaiting the results of the examination of the seized mobile phone and the full analysis of the security images. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody and is in custody.
