The past year was marked by an anniversary tour of his 30-year professional career, but Carlos Bauté decided to put a golden touch to the event with a new song, “Who better than you!”, with a message of love that … emits good vibrations: “When you are in love, you see the world in “full” color, everything is beautiful, happy, and the simplest things take on a particular value because you appreciate them with the person you love.”
The idea had been in his head for a long time, because the title and the melody were clear to him: “Like journalists, I need a title because it guides me in the composition, and I already had it. We recorded it in a short time, we barely changed anything on the demo, and in the end I decided to release it because we wanted to. delighted with the resultwith its very particular sound.
Three decades on stage is a lot. Carlos remembers three key moments in his life: “The first, when at 13 I joined the group Los Chamos and I knew from the first moment that my life was music. It was a revelation, but it was clear to me that I was born to sing. The second, when Spain opened its doors to me and gave me a love for which I will be eternally grateful.
“Here I put down roots, started a family and have a full life. The hardest thing when I arrived with my suitcase of dreams was assuming that I was leaving my country for political reasons. I am an adversaryI was tired of seeing how the elections were stolen, and I defend democracy: that the left or the right govern, but that it be a democratic government. The third step would be the success of “Hanging in His Hands,” which brought me so much joy and became a classic,” he adds.
“Being a father has completely transformed me”
And in those years, there was something personal that changed him forever: “You never imagine what it means to become a father. It completely transformed me. “People who don’t want to have children don’t know what they’re missing.”
The celebrations of this birthday end, but others that fascinate him begin: Christmas, his favorite time of year (followed by summers, when he can afford to practice surfing, a sport that has fascinated him since he was very young).
Astrid Klissans, Carlos Baute and their three children: Markuss, Liene and Álisse
On November 30, Carlos already posted a video with his wife and children celebrating the arrival of the most magical month in the Baute calendar with a Christmas carol: “I am very religious and very family oriented“I love all traditions, especially those that excite children, like gifts, the baby Jesus, putting up the tree or assembling the decorations…”
“I understand that there are people who live these days with sadness, because the absences hurt, but when you are a father, you only think about creating beautiful memories for your children. There’s nothing better than seeing your smile in front, seeing how they get up early nervously to enjoy everything,” he says.
Your Christmas plans
In fact, Carlos and his wife have as much fun as their children, spending a lot of time feeding the Christmas fantasy with a variety of games that have become a family ritual: “Every day, elves do their thing and they leave them messages, so that they receive clues about their behavior, whether they were good or not. Because if they behave badly, they will get coal. Of course, Carlos explains, “the elves are forbidden from giving them gifts on the direct orders of Santa Claus.”
They celebrate Christmas Eve at home in Madrid. On the 26th they leave for Riga, Lithuaniato meet his wife’s family, with whom they spend New Year’s Eve. They stay there until Epiphany, although they have transformed the ritual into an Invisible Friend-style party. Carlos prefers that the gifts arrive from Santa Claus on the night of December 24: “This way the children can enjoy the toys more, because otherwise they hardly have a day to enjoy them. Furthermore, we Venezuelans have a tradition of new clothes for the new yearso I could use the one they offered.
Very personal…and Christmas
Your favorite emoji to congratulate the holidays: “The cone that throws the banners and the little tree, unmissable.”
a Christmas song: ‘”To the child God”, which I composed dedicated to the Child Jesus with great affection and with a wink in the lyrics to my Venezuelan soul: “Burrito Sabanero, I am going to see the child God.” “I remember that inspiration came to me quickly, perhaps because of this spiritual connection that artists have.”
Santa Claus or Three Wise Men: “For us, Santa Claus.”
Tree or Bethlehem: “The tree. And well decorated.
Carlos Bauté
A family tradition for these holidays: “Cooking with the whole family. With mom, my cousins…. I take care of the suckling pig, my specialty, which I prepare only with water and bay leaf, but I have a trick so that it comes out nice and crispy.
A Venezuelan dish on the Christmas Eve menu: “Ham bread, hayacas and cream punch, which can be with or without rum, and which are taken at the end of dinner, as a digestive.”
What Spanish product cannot be missing on the table?: “Pork and seafood”.
Do they go out to midnight mass or stay to watch Telepasión? “We go to mass, not only that evening, but also at noon.”
Who are you missing this holiday season?: “To my father, to my grandparents, to my sister.”
The happiest Christmas I can remember: “Those who are at home, in Venezuela, with the whole family. The smell of cooking, everyone’s laughter, the feeling of being surrounded by love. But that was over 26 years ago, a lifetime. I guess all these were lost forever, they are irreplaceable and live in my memory, now I live the happiness of this vacation with my wife and children.
It’s time to make a wish: “I dream of celebrating next Christmas in a free Venezuela.”
