Hailed in the role of Gerluce in “Três Graças”, a TV Globo soap opera, Sophie Charlotte personifies the daily life of millions of Brazilians. Being late for work became a meme, the verb “gerluçar” became synonymous with being late and videos imitating the character invaded the networks. Immersed in the story of a woman who tries to reconcile caring for her sick mother (Dira Paes) and her pregnant daughter (Alana Cabral) with her professional and love life, the actress says she is surprised by the repercussions:
— This is the first time I’ve experienced this. I didn’t think this daily drama would resonate so much. I’m really happy. We are careful not to idealize teenage pregnancy or the modern, multifunctional woman who is the backbone of the family.
Gerluce’s conflicts are not limited to the caregiver’s agitation. She must face ghosts from the past, like Jorginho Ninja (Juliano Cazarré), the ex-convict who kept her in a private prison and who is the father of her daughter, Joélly (Alana Cabral), raising a debate about forgiveness and justice. To construct this suffering, Sophie was inspired by cases of violence against women.
— God’s forgiveness and change are everyone’s rights, but it is not an obligation for a woman to forgive. The violence has already been experienced. The solution is not always simple. We leave space for reflection for those who watch, he says.
Finally, in next week’s chapters, Gerluce implements the plan to steal the Three Graces statue. Or an expropriation, the character would say, a devotee of Santa Rita de Cássia who asks every night for a blessing for her bad act, in the hope of being forgiven for her crime of having taken from rich criminals to give to the poor, victims of the Ferette Foundation’s counterfeit medicines.
— She is so exhausted that she begins to fail herself and her principles. Our story will begin to evolve towards the consequences of these choices — warns Sophie, recalling that the romance with Paulinho (Romulo Estrela) is a relief.

The actress says the character’s frenetic pace affected her rest time and made her daydream about work.
— I wake up thinking “Nooooo, I just wanted to rest” — says Sophie, who admits that in real life, “gerluça” sometimes comes late, but for good reasons. — I have always been punctual, but the other day I came home and my son (Otto, 9 years old) was sleeping. In the morning, he came happy to show the bulletin and wanted to talk. I didn’t interrupt him or “gerlucei” lightly (laughs).
Sundays were a break to enjoy my son more and try to “enjoy the sun”, after spending hours in the studio during the week:
— I give myself the right to wear pajamas.
At home, Gerluce also tends to be comfortable, wearing worn t-shirts and comfy shorts. But aside from that, the protagonist of “Three Graces” usually has marked eyes, cherry red lipstick, and long, polished nails. According to the actress, part of the aesthetic was inspired by her paternal grandmother, Alva Frizia Silva from Pará.
— I never had the habit of wearing cleavage. It’s the first time. These always impeccable nails and lipstick, everything we got a lot from my grandmother — he says.
Sophie has another passion: music. In the soap opera’s soundtrack, she sings “Proposta”, a partnership with Roberto Carlos that encompasses the romance of Gerluce and Paulinho, and will be present in the traditional end-of-year special of the King, on the 23rd, on TV Globo.
— It’s unforgettable to be able to record a song with Roberto Carlos. He invited me back to the special. I’m already arranging the dress. He has already hugged me at other times, like when he allowed me to record “Sua stupidity” for the series “O rebu” (2014). Roberto Carlos is a great master.
After concerts with Tom Veloso, Caetano’s son, the actress is preparing to release a four-track EP in 2026.
— I’m still shy, very nervous, but the pleasure of singing is so great that I get over it. I understood that it is a very good way to interact with the public, in another place. This year has been very important in this sense for me.
Even for love, Sophie is more and more interested in music. Girlfriend of singer and actor Xamã, Baghdad of “Three Graces,” she says they encourage each other in this mix of talents:
— He has great artistic concern, generosity in sharing his knowledge of this universe. We exchange our artistic experiences a lot.
The partnership between the two continues on a daily basis, such as when putting up the Christmas tree at Sophie’s house:
— I had the help of the shaman for the lights. To buy it, I went with my father by metro to Saara, in the center of Rio. It’s a tree that makes sense. Some decorations belonged to my parents, others I had brought back from traveling and received them from friends.
The party, however, will not take place at the actress’s house, but at the property that belonged to her grandmother in Niterói, with the Pará part of her family:
— There are lots of delicious typical dishes, everyone contributes in their own way and we organize a great party bringing together all the uncles, cousins and their children. It’s my favorite holiday — she said, describing the atmosphere of family gatherings: — My paternal grandmother had ten children, each of them had three children, so I have a lot of uncles and cousins. It’s wonderful to have a united family.
