In his declaration as being investigated in the Negreira case, the former president of Barça between 2010 and 2014, Sandro Rosell, contradicted the statements of Joan Laporta, who claimed to have never met the former vice-president of the Technical Commission of Referees.
“I already met Mr. Negreira in 2003 when we joined Mr. Laporta’s first board of directors. Someone introduced me to Mr. Negreira as the person who historically provided refereeing advice to the club.“said Rosell, who was part of Laporta’s board of directors between 2003 and 2005, in statements highlighted by Ramón Álvarez de Mon on his YouTube channel.
The former Barça president spoke of Negreira as a figure of an already existing structure and assured that “From 2003 to 2005, I saw him once in the stadium reportingand advise the club arbitrarily.”
Although he admitted to seeing him sometimes at the stadium, Rosell said he thought “that a lot of times he didn’t come because, obviously, If you do refereeing advice, it’s better to do it on television because that’s how we see the replays and be more specific in your advice and reporting.
Since 2005, when Rosell resigned from Laporta’s board of directors, he did not see him again “until 2010”, the year he returned to the presidency: “When we won the elections, we inherited this contract and a hundred additional contracts”.
