Xiaomi’s premium middleman offers elite cameras, unexpected integration with the Apple ecosystem, and a cost-benefit ratio that’s hard to ignore, even with some compromises
There are smartphones that impress with their technical specifications, others that shine with their marketing and a few that simply make sense in everyday use. The Xiaomi 15T fits comfortably into the latter group. After a few weeks of using the model with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, it is clear that Xiaomi has done something rare: deliver a cell phone that does not seek to be the most powerful in the world, but which understands very well for whom it exists.
Starting with the design, the 15T looks stunning – and that’s important. The finish is well resolved, with sober lines and a visual identity that does not seek to blatantly copy anyone. Yes, there’s plastic in the build, and that weighs against it when we talk about durability and premium feel, but it’s a well-designed plastic that’s solid and honest to the device’s purpose. The IP68 certification against water and dust helps to reinforce the feeling of care in the project.
Another highlight is the 6.83-inch OLED display. With a resolution of 1280 x 2772 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and support for Dolby Vision, it behaves very well in all situations: strong sunlight, indoor environments, video consumption or social networks. It is true that Xiaomi has reduced the maximum rate of 144 Hz of the previous model to 120 Hz here, which is technically a drop. In practice? Hard to notice. The experience remains smooth and enjoyable, exactly as you’d expect from a device in this price range.
