The Unen candidate won the elections that took place this Sunday in the covered Claudio Newell Stadium, where more than 11,000 members voted – a record number for the club. Although official confirmation was still pending, the trend was irreversible: Boero was about 20 points ahead of its competitors and the celebrations began even before the test was completed.
The climate of optimism in Unen could already be felt before the polling stations closed. The difference was big ahead of Cristián D’Amico of Nuevo Frente Rojinegro and Juan Cuneo of Fuerza Leprosa, who were tied for second place. The fourth list of participants was that of Guillermo Muñoz on March 8th.
Unlike Unen and Fuerza Leprosa, D’Amico was not present in the sector where members lined up to vote. Boero’s supporters, on the other hand, gathered with the members of their list and were ready to celebrate the result.
The day showed a strong commitment from the Register: just over 28,000 members qualified and a number of more than 11,000 voted, far more than the 7,477 who attended in 2021, when Ignacio Astore was appointed president.
