President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), made a statement on national radio and television this Wednesday evening (24/12), Christmas Eve, where he looked back on the achievements of his administration this year and once again spoke out in favor of ending the 6×1 scale.
On television and radio, Lula defended the reduction of working hours without a reduction in wages, with the aim of responding to workers’ demands.
“No right is more urgent today than the right to time. It is not fair that a person is forced to work hard for six days. The end of the 6×1 scale is a demand of the people that it is up to us, representatives of the people, to listen to and turn into reality,” Lula said.

Social and economic progress in 2025
In his speech, the president cited social and economic advances, such as Brazil’s exit from the hunger map, the resumption of Bolsa Família, the appreciation of the minimum wage, investments in job creation and school feeding programs.
“Being on this map means that many people in the country have nothing to eat. This is why we re-established Bolsa Família, we support family farming, we promote the minimum wage, we invest in job creation and in food in schools,” he stressed.
The PT member once again highlighted the end of income tax for those earning up to R$5,000 per month,0 which was one of the banners of his presidential campaign in 2o22.
“Starting in January, millions of families will have extra money every month. This will lower their bills, boost the economy and benefit the entire country.”
Lula also highlighted social programs and infrastructure works such as “Agora Tem Especialistas”, “Pé-de-Meia”, “Gás do Povo eo Luz do Povo”, “Minha Casa Minha Vida” and the arrival of “Reforma Casa Brasil”.
The PT member highlighted that Brazil reaches the end of 2025 with “the lowest unemployment rate in history, a record average income and inflation accumulated at historically low levels.”

Public security in perspective 2026
The Brazilian president also addressed public security and the fight against violence, themes that are expected to gain importance in the political conflict and in the 2026 electoral race.
“The Federal Police has commanded the largest operation ever against organized crime. For the first time, the fight against criminal factions has reached the top. And people so kind and capable of producing such beautiful things cannot accept violence against women. I will lead a great national effort involving ministries, institutions and all of Brazilian society,” he said.

COP30 and pricing
Internationally, Lula said Brazil had regained its leadership role and cited what he called the year’s foreign policy advances.
“Brazil is once again respected and admired by the world. We welcomed 9 million foreign tourists, a historic record, and we hosted the world’s largest climate event in the Amazon, in Belém do Pará. COP30 was a success and consolidated Brazil as a world leader on the most important issue of this century,” he said.
The Brazilian highlighted Brazil’s role on the international stage in the face of unprecedented economic challenges, such as the customs tariffs imposed by Donald Trump. According to Planalto, the White House recognized “first progress” in the negotiations initiated after the call between Lula and Trump in October, paving the way for a partial review of the punitive measures.
“But we are also facing an unprecedented challenge: the customs tariff against Brazil. We are showing the country and the world that we are for dialogue, fraternity and we are not fleeing the fight. We are banking on diplomacy, we are protecting our businesses, we are avoiding layoffs. We have negotiated the end of the customs tariff,” he declared.
Finally, Lula ended his message with a call for unity and hope. “My friend, my friend, Brazil belongs to you. Look who is with you tonight. Think about your family, those you love, and be sure: you have won and you will continue to win. I wish all Brazilian families a Merry Christmas and a New Year full of peace, prosperity and new achievements. Thank you very much.”
