Murcia, December 15 (EFE). – The red rain alert imposed in the Guadalentín Valley, in Lorca and Águilas and in Vega del Segura has changed from red to orange. Rainfall of 100 liters per square meter is expected in these areas in 12 hours until midday.
The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Municipality of Murcia activated this morning the Inunmur plan against level 1 floods, due to the heavy rains that have occurred in the area in the last few hours and the weather warnings have been extended.
The area of the Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas was under red warning until six in the morning, as there were up to 180 liters of rainfall in twelve hours and 30 liters in one hour. However, at that time and until 12 noon, the warning was lowered to the orange level (100 l/m2), according to the state meteorological agency.
In the rest of the Murcia region the warning is yellow. Thus, an accumulated rainfall of 60 liters per square meter in 12 hours and 20 liters per square meter in 1 hour is expected in Altiplano, Noroeste, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón.
The warning is also yellow, with rainfall of 20 liters per square meter in one hour until midday in Vega del Segura and Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca and Águilas. The yellow alert for severe weather applies in the entire Murcia region until 12 noon.EFE
