Supported housing, made up of small living units, will make it possible to offer residential places in a standardized environment, promoting the autonomy of people with severe intellectual disabilities. For its part, the day center, with a reception capacity up to 45 people, It will have adapted and flexible functional spaces, designed to meet different support needs, both cognitive and physical.
Both resources are part of the infrastructure package promoted by the Ministry of Social Protection with European funding, as part of a regional strategy aimed at deinstitutionalizing care, bringing services closer to the community environment and guaranteeing equal opportunities regardless of place of residence.
Strengthening the region’s public network
With the integration of these new devices, the province of Toledo continues to expand its specialized care network. Currently, Castile-La Mancha has more than 383 specialized resources for people with disabilities, which serve more than 15,000 people every day, in collaboration with third sector entities and local entities.
In this context, the regional government recalled that the budget allocated to disability policies reaches 157.2 million euros in 2025 and will reach 159.1 million euros in 2026, the largest in the history of Castile-La Mancha in this area, which allows it to continue consolidating new resources, places and services throughout the territory, strengthening a people-centered and rights-oriented care model.
Alongside the promotion of these new resources, the General Director of Handicap participated in the VIII Inclusive Craft Market, organized in the Plaza de las Palmeras in Torrijos, a solidarity initiative that makes visible the talent of people with disabilities and the daily work carried out by social entities. In this context, Armenta highlighted that this type of initiatives “put people with disabilities at the center, making visible their talent and the daily work of social entities, transforming inclusion into something close and experienced by citizens” and also highlighted that “these meeting spaces help to raise awareness, generate community and strengthen a social perspective based on respect, participation and equal opportunities.”
The market, in which different associations in the field of disability in the province of Toledo participate, has established itself as a meeting space open to all citizens, which promotes real inclusion, social awareness and support for projects promoted by the third sector. Cultural activities, workshops for children and solidarity proposals reinforce the community character of an event already fully anchored in the town.
The regional government has valued this type of local initiatives which, through proximity and institutional collaboration, contribute to building a more inclusive, cohesive and committed society, aligned with the support model promoted by Castilla-La Mancha and with the continuous strengthening of the public care network for people with disabilities.
