A Beechcraft King Air C90 aircraft suffered an incident this Friday (19) at Pampulha Airport, Belo Horizonte, leaving the site closed to landings and takeoffs for more than an hour.
Registered PR-SJL, the King Air took off from the airport around 11:30 a.m. towards Pará de Minas, in the central-western region of Minas Gerais. During the approach to the interior of the city, a problem with the landing gear was detected, according to preliminary information, and therefore it was decided to return to the capital of Minas Gerais.
Upon landing, at 12:38 p.m., the landing gear initially behaved normally, but the left side main gear eventually collapsed during deceleration, causing the left wing to contact the ground and drag the aircraft along the runway.
Despite the fear, no one was injured, but the plane was stopped on the runway, awaiting evacuation and, as a result, Pampulha Airport had to be closed. It reopened at 1:51 p.m.
According to the concessionaire CCR Aeroportos, which manages the site, operations will continue normally this Friday afternoon.
