
The Federal Attorney General’s Office (AGU) has filed two more sets of lawsuits against 16 entities suspected of being involved in the billion-dollar plan for improper rebates against retirees of the National Social Security Institute (INSS), revealed by the Metropolises.
Together, the 16 associations collected 4.9 billion reais, according to data from the federal government’s transparency portal. It is not possible to say that all of this funding was obtained by fraud, as part of the resources could have been collected through regular memberships.

- The AGU was already investigating 24 other associations involved in fraud and three technology companies used to validate false authentications by fraudulent associations. With these new actions, 40 entities of Farra do INSS are under investigation by the agency.
- These actions come after the agreement signed in July this year, at the Federal Court (STF), authorizing compensation for victims.
- The amount billed refers to payments made through November and may be updated as INSS consolidates data on other payments.
- To date, the AGU has requested the blocking of R$6.6 billion, of which R$4.4 billion has already been blocked by injunctions. In addition to this amount, the blocking of 17 properties and 76 vehicles was requested.
- The INSS informs that it has so far reimbursed R$2.7 billion to 4 million beneficiaries who contested the reductions.
