Internacional begins reformulation with the departure of D’Alessandro and Mazzuco

D’Alessandro and Mazzuco arrived together in Beira-Rio in August 2024. Their mission was to protect the locker room and qualify the squad. The Argentine idol even took over the role that belonged to former player Magrão. Thus, he carried the fans’ hope for his victorious story.

However, the team’s performance in the 2025 Brasileirão weighed in the final evaluation. The club even won the Campeonato Gaúcho undefeated at the start of the year. However, the latter part of the current season has generated instability and protests from fans. The group’s assembly was also harshly criticized. The official statement cited “personal issues” as the reason for D’Alessandro’s departure. On the other hand, Mazzuco’s resignation is part of the strategic alignment for the next cycle.

The executive director of football, André Mazzuco, and the sports director, D’Alessandro, are leaving their positions, in a step aligned with the process of reorganization of the sector for the 2026 season. In the case of D’Alessandro, the decision is taken for personal reasons.

The Club thanks both professionals for the work carried out during the period, which involved relevant contributions in the fifth place of the Brasileirão 2024, in leading the team’s return to the CT Parque Gigante, with structural improvements and advances in internal processes, and in the undefeated victory of the Gauchão 2025. It is also worth noting the total involvement of D’Alessandro in the institution, a historical idol that strengthened the Club’s identity in the football department during his time there. The Department will be led on an interim basis by the Club’s technical team until the next steps are defined.
