United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres wrote on the social network: “On this first day of Hanukkah, a holiday that celebrates the miracle of peace and light that conquers darkness, my heart goes out to the Jewish community around the world,” the Secretary-General added.
From Europe, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said she was “shocked by the tragic attack”. European heads of state such as German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer made similar comments. King Charles III was also from the United Kingdom. and his wife Camilla “shocked and deeply saddened by the cruel anti-Semitic terrorist attack,” the monarch, who is also Australia’s head of state, said in a statement.
Other European countries such as Spain and Poland also condemned the attack on the Jewish community on a Sydney beach, which was repeated in Argentina, New Zealand, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, India and South Africa. In all cases they expressed their opposition to terrorism and warned against hate speech and extremism.
From the United States, its Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote in X: “The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Australia that targeted a Jewish celebration. Anti-Semitism has no place in this world.” Rubio wrote in a message on X.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu linked Australia’s “demand for a Palestinian state” to the Sydney shooting. “His call for a Palestinian state fuels the fire of anti-Semitism. He rewards Hamas terrorists,” he said.
