
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said this Saturday (12/13) that an aerial bombardment in Gaza City killed Raad Saad, identified as a top Hamas commander. According to the Israeli military, this action took place in response to recent ceasefire violations by the group. See attack:
In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the offensive was a response to an explosive attack in the southern Gaza Strip hours earlier.
“In response to the detonation of an explosive device by Hamas that injured our forces today (…) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the elimination of terrorist Raad Saad,” they said.
According to Israel, Saad played a central role in Hamas’ military structure. He headed the arms manufacturing sector and was considered one of the strategists of the attack carried out on October 7, 2023, which sparked the current war in Gaza.
