From December 2025 the Management by President Milei It is reaching its halfway point and consolidating a structural paradigm shift in Argentina. The balance sheet combines remarkable macroeconomic successes with a social structure under severe pressure and a political scenario in transition.
The pillar of management was the organization of public finances and the attempt to remove government obstacles.
Her Achievements were of great importance:
-Drastic decline in inflation
-Historic budget surplus
-Reducing country risk
-Deregulation (partial) of the economy
-Development of dynamic sectors: agriculture, mining (especially lithium) and energy sector, which show record levels of investment and growth.
Authoritarians don’t like that
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a mainstay of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe that they are the owners of the truth.
However, this transformation process has entailed unavoidable costs that affect internal consumption and the quality of life, especially in the middle and lower sectors, and generate a climate of political and social tension.
Luis Caputo doesn’t want more elections every two years: “They’re ridiculous”
In this context, in the last Choosethe electorate strongly supported the party Civil servicewhich grew from a pitiful bloc of two MPs into the majority bloc of the House of Commons, displacing populism from that role.
As the President has repeatedly expressed, much remains to be done. Essentially, it is a matter of enshrining in law the instruments that confirm the changes already made and sanctioning those others that guarantee the possibility of continuing on the chosen path, through legal bodies, such as tax, pension and labor reforms, among others.
Coalitions in Argentina: The blame always lies with the other party
In addition to this accumulation of legislative transformation projects, there is also a fundamental debate about the current electoral system. In Argentina, governments are elected and judged every two years.
This system determines that Every two years, those in power must focus more on winning the next election that it is about governing in the long term, both for the renewal of legislation and for presidential approval. Governments must carry out a review every two years.
In addition to the high costs associated with the organization of national elections, so common in many cases, as is the case in Argentina, the terms of government effectively used for good governance mean not only that they are short, but also the need to win the favor of voters with excessive frequency.
For these reasons, in addition to the very welcome legal reforms that the current government wants to push forward, it would make a lot of sense to consider the possibility of constitutional reform change the electoral regimean imitation of the regime in force in countries with strong democratic characteristics.
Based on these lines, the undersigned proposes that a call for the election of conventional voters be called at the time of the elections in 2027 to decide:
Argentine society practically has two years left to debate these initiatives, which are as important as the adoption of the reform laws proposed by the government.
It could represent an important advance in Argentina’s institutional structure.
It is hoped that this proposal can gain official and public support for its implementation.
If implemented, it would significantly improve the quality of democracy and management in the country. So be it
