Cruzeiro supporters responded to coach Leonardo Jardim’s request. Thus, they attended in large numbers the team’s last training in Toca da Raposa, organized this Saturday (13), on the eve of the decisive clash against Corinthians, in the semi-final of the Brazilian Cup.
The support was celebrated by the Portuguese coach. After all, he took to social media to thank fans for being there. In an Instagram post, Jardim shared a recording of the interaction with fans and left a message of appreciation.
“Thank you for your presence. We are together,” the celestial commander wrote.
The mobilization of supporters represents a direct response to the appeal launched by Leonardo Jardim after the 1-0 defeat against Corinthians, in the first match of the semi-final, played last Wednesday (10). At the time, the coach said he missed a greater presence of fans at the training center before the match and recalled that this type of support had happened before at other decisive moments.
“I thought we would have support in Toca before this very important match and we didn’t have it. I ask our fans to give us a lot of support, to visit us in Toca to motivate these people,” the coach said in a press conference.
Scenarios for Cruzeiro to qualify for the final
With the negative result of the first match of the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, only victory interests Raposa. Indeed, Memphis Depay’s goal gave the advantage of guaranteeing a place in the final of the tournament even in the event of a draw.
The Minas Gerais team therefore needs a triumph. If they achieve a victory with just one goal difference, qualification for the Copa do Brasil final will be on penalties. The direct classification of Cruzeiro for the championship decision only takes place with positive results by two or more times difference;
