“The plenary session of the JNE has decided to declare invalid the primaries of the political organization Acción Popular to determine its candidates for the 2026 general elections because they presented significant deficiencies that violate the principles of internal democracy and due process,” the company said on its X account.
The resolution indicates that discrepancies were found between the list of delegates declared winners by the National Election Committee of the People’s Action and the list of electoral materials prepared by the National Election Committee National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) in the Nov. 30 primary election. These irregularities were found in the constituencies Áncash, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, North Lima, Central Lima, West Lima, Lima Provinces, Loreto, Piura, Tacna And Ucayali.
