The actor José de Abreu spoke about the Zezé Di Camargo show financed by the federal government after the singer’s criticism on the web
The controversy involving the country singer Zeze Di Camargo and SBT opened a surprising new chapter, this time with actor José de Abreu entering the mix. The exchange of barbs began after Zezé publicly criticized the channel for inviting the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for the inauguration of the new news channel, SBT News.
The discussion reached a new level of irony when José de Abreu used his profile on X, the old Twitter, to refute Zezé Di Camargo’s critical position. The artist reacted to a report from Veja magazine which revealed a financial detail which puts the compatriot in a delicate and contradictory situation: the hiring of Zezé for a show with a millionaire fee paid with federal funds.
The city of São José do Egypt, in Pernambuco, has announced the performance of Zezé Di Camargo during the traditional Festa de Reis, a cultural event of great regional importance that will take place from January 3 to 6 next year. The artist was hired according to an inapplicable process, a modality that allows direct hiring.
According to Veja, the stipulated fee for the singer is R$500,000. The central point of the controversy is that this amount will be financed with resources of federal origin, coming from the Lula government itself, the same one that his compatriot disapproved within the SBT.
By sharing the news on his social network, José de Abreu did not spare the irony. He questions the consistency of the musician: “An opportunist! Is the federal government helpful in paying the tax?”. Then, the actor proposed a virtual mobilization, boosting the hashtag #cancelashowZeze and completing the comment with provocation: “Suck it, cattle. FEDERAL RESOURCE. Should we protest?”
Understanding the confusion
The disorder began in the early hours of last Monday 15, when Zezé Di Camargo posted a video on his official Instagram account. In the recording, he expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the presence of President Lula at the SBT News launch event, which took place the previous week.
Zezé Di Camargo said Silvio Santos’ daughters would “prostitute” themselves by giving the president space. Outraged, the compatriot went further and demanded the cancellation of a Christmas special he had recorded for the channel itself.
