This Thursday, Judge Juan Carlos Peinado filed the “Begoña Gómez case” for the government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, after the Madrid Provincial Court asked him to withdraw his capacity as investigator, considering that his accusation was based on “mere suppositions”.
In an order, the president of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid accepts the free dismissal of the proceedings concerning Martín Aguirre, who was under investigation for an alleged offense of embezzlement of public funds.
Peinado indicted Martín last May after admitting to a new complaint from Vox that was being processed. Martín was secretary general of the Presidency of Moncloa between 2021 and 2023 and the far right claimed that he played a criminal role in the hiring of Cristina Álvarez, advisor to Begoña Gómez. In his statement as investigator, Martín directly denied having participated in this hiring.
Judge Peinado himself asked the parties a few days ago if he should file a complaint against the government delegate in Madrid, but the Provincial Court anticipated him: “As these are mere hypotheses, without the slightest indication of responsibility, it is appropriate to accept the inadmissibility of the complaint concerning the said Francisco Martín Aguirre.”
