Although Júlio was unable to post the masses online, those present recorded videos and shared them on their social networks. A speech given by the priest during the sermon goes viral among followers.
At one point he said: “I don’t want to be an example to anyone, I just want to be a brother to all of you, especially to the poorest, the abandoned. If loving the poor bothers you, let’s love each other to the end.”

Júlio Lancellotti was banned from broadcasting masses live on social networks following a decision by Cardinal Archbishop Dom Odilo Scherer, of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, last Sunday (14/12).
In a statement, Júlio informed that he would be absent from social networks. “Broadcasts are temporarily suspended, but Sunday masses will continue to be celebrated normally, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of the São Judas University, in Mooca. Social networks are not used during a temporary gathering period,” says an extract from the press release.
