
The Federal Court has decided to arrest lawyer João Paulo Leandro Mendes Mendonça Carréra, aged 34, on suspicion of killing a man and burning his body in an abandoned warehouse in the rural area of Sol Nascente, in the Federal District.
The decision was taken during a custody hearing held this Monday (29/12), during which the arrest in flagrante delicto was transformed into preventive detention.

What we know about the case:
- A charred body was found on Sunday (28/12) in an abandoned warehouse
- Police are investigating whether the crime is linked to an alleged macabre ritual
- The main suspect was arrested at the scene, shortly before further investigation was carried out, as he attempted to hide his remains.
- According to the PCDF, he used a rake and wheelbarrow to collect bone fragments.
- According to police archives, he has around thirty criminal convictions, notably for insults, defamation and threats.
- Just this year, he was arrested for involvement in what were considered macabre acts at the Taguatinga cemetery, where police said he violated graves and left objects inside the graves.
The victim has not yet been identified
The victim is preliminary described as a young man, approximately 6 feet tall, with brown skin, wavy hair and a tattoo on his back. The Civil Police ask that any information allowing the identification of people or missing persons be transmitted by calling 197.
