Thanks to goals from Francisco Conceição and Openda, Velha Senhora brings the score to 2-1 in the classic and is one point behind the Romans in the standings.
Juventus took over the Italian classic organized in Turin and beat Roma 2-1, this Saturday (20), in a match valid for the 16th day of the Italian Championship. Francisco Conceição and Openda scored the goals for Velha Senhora, while Tommaso Baldanzi scored for the Romans.
With the 2-1 victory, Juventus closed the gap on Roma and remained just one point behind their rival in fifth place in Serie A.
The game
Portugal’s Francisco Conceição was one of Juve’s highlights in the first leg. After being in danger a few minutes earlier, he opened the scoring in the 44th minute. The striker received a pass from Cambiasso in the area and finished strongly, crossing, without any chance of defense for Svilar.
Even with an advantage, Juventus continued to control the match against a listless Roma, struggling to exchange passes and create plays. The domination was clear and the second goal did not take long to arrive. In the 25th half, Svilar even saved McKennie’s header, but on the rebound Openda pushed him into the empty goal.
Roma’s reaction only started to show after that. In the 31st minute, Tommaso Baldanzi took advantage of a surplus in the area and reduced the score. The capital side tried to press for a draw, but it was Juventus who gave themselves another scare, with Yildiz hitting the post.
