The candidate of the Republican Party, Jose Antonio Kast, has assured that he will be the president of “all” Chileans after winning the second round of the presidential elections held this Sunday in the Latin American country. “Someone may have a different ideology, but they are human beings like us,” he explained.
In his first speech as elected president, he thanked the support of his family, his party colleagues and the support of other political parties and pointed out that the result achieved was “not a personal triumph”.
In this sense, he stressed that his rival, the left-wing candidate Jeannette Jara, had “accepted a challenge” and emphasized that “a government is not built alone (but) the opposition is important.”
Likewise, Kast has promised that “we will do well these four years” and that he will dedicate them to “rebuilding” the country by “respecting those who think differently” and repeatedly calling for the unity of Chileans and order, which, in his opinion, “is not a whim.”
