MADRID, December 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Kremlin on Tuesday called accusations that Russia was preparing an attack on NATO “absolute stupidity”, amid tensions stemming from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, launched in February 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“As for the preparation of an attack on NATO, this is absolute stupidity. Once again, I urge everyone to listen to the original source: our President Putin,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference in Moscow.
Likewise, he stressed that Putin did not intend to “restore” the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), since “it is impossible”, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
“He has said it several times. Talking about it is disrespectful to our partners, our allies in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS),” he argued, before criticizing the latest statements by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the Russian president’s desire to put the USSR back on its feet.
