The Xunta City Hall has agreed to continue advancing the commitment to double the social housing stock by 2026. This Monday, the Minister of Housing, María Martínez Allegue, declared that she would allocate two million euros for the acquisition of commercial premises (low … or mezzanines) in the city of Ourense which, after its reform, will become public housing at affordable prices to facilitate access due to the lack of urban land to build new properties in the city of Burgas.
The process will take place with a public acquisition offer from the Instituto Galego da Vivenda e Solo (IGVS), to which commercial premises in the city in good condition and free from charges and fees, in addition to being suitable for building at least one house per premises, can be presented. Accesses such as garages or storage rooms can also be included provided they are located in the same building.
The deadline for those who wish to offer their commercial premises will begin with the publication of the measure in the Official Gazette (DOG), scheduled for next January, and will be in force until May 1, 2026. The publication will include the bases, assumptions, maximum prices and the rating system (adaptability, access, etc.) by which the IGVS will determine the premises it will acquire until the budget is exhausted.
La Xunta will be responsible for the expenses derived from the presentation of the offer, the technicians’ fees and the necessary administrative procedures up to a maximum of 1,500 euros, including the notary and registration of the property. Once acquired, the Regional Executive will rehabilitate the spaces and adapt them for use as publicly promoted housing, which will be included in the rental market for those registered in the register of candidates of the Orense City Council.
“In short, it is a measure that allows us to take advantage of currently unused spaces, that revitalizes and urban regenerates the city of Ourense and, above all, allows us to create more social housing and respond to the real needs of our citizens,” said the Minister of Housing.
