The water supply was compromised in part of São Paulo and in some cities in the metropolitan region this Thursday (11) due to lack of energy. According to Sabesp, the lack of electricity prevents water from being pumped to homes, meaning the supply is “very affected”.
In some places, such as Vila Mariana and Morumbi, in the capital, and Santo André and the Vila Iracema district, in Osasco, energy has been restored, but the resumption of supply is happening gradually.
Affected regions in São Paulo
- Americanópolis
- Cangaíba
- Parelheiros
- Carmo Park
- Savoie Park
- Sacomã
- Villa Clara
- Vila Formosa
- Roman villa
Neighborhoods near these areas have also been affected, as reservoirs installed in these locations serve neighboring areas.
Cities completely affected
- Itapecerica da Serra
- Guarulhos
- Cajamar
- Mauá
- Saint Elizabeth
Part of the towns of Cotia (Atalaia region) and São Bernardo do Campo (Baeta Neves region) are also feeling the effects of lack of energy.
The system was heavily impacted by the long period without electricity to pump water. Sabesp said that as soon as pumping resumes, water circulates through the pipes again, filling the water tanks of each house and building along the way, so recovery is gradual.
This is why Sabesp advises its customers to consciously consume the water stored in domestic tanks until the systems are fully restored. Residential properties with a water tank may be less affected. The company said it was in contact with Enel, to monitor the work to restore electricity.
Sabesp apologized for the inconvenience and stressed that it remains available through customer service channels: call the toll-free number 0800-055-0195 or send an SMS to the official WhatsApp to the number (11) 3388-8000 or contact the virtual agency through the website www.sabesp.com.br.
