The commuter train that will connect Mexico City to Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) appears to be one of the most relevant mobility projects in the Valley of Mexico. The work, which is part of the direction of Claudia Sheinbaum, aims to improve access to the airport with an efficient and safe transport alternative.
On Sunday, during the first test of Lechería at AIFA, the president said that the passenger train will be ready in the first quarter of 2026, during the Easter period, to allow users to depart from the Buenavista station, arrive at the airport and make connections with national and international flights.
Travel time and what the trains will be like
Authorities said the estimated travel time from Buenavista to AIFA would be about 43 minutes. The service will operate with 15-minute intervals between one train and another at each station, and will have a fleet of 10 trains, each with five carriages and a capacity of up to 719 passengers. Seven trains will remain in continuous service, while two will be in reserve and one in permanent maintenance, with the aim of guaranteeing the regularity of the service.

AIFA commuter train timetables and costs
The operating hours of the Lechería-AIFA commuter train will be from 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Schedules will be standardized with the current Buenavista-Cuautitlán commuter train service to facilitate integration between the two routes.
So far, the authorities have not communicated the official cost of the ticket to get to AIFA. However, it has been confirmed that the payment system will be approved with the integrated mobility card.
AIFA commuter train connections and stations
To get to AIFA from Mexico City, users must board the commuter train at Buenavista Station heading to Lechería, a total route of five stations. Once in Lechería, you will be transferred to the Lechería-AIFA agency, where the journey to the airport will begin.
This line will pass through communities such as Nextlalpan, Tultitlán, Tultepec and Jaltocán, in the State of Mexico. The confirmed stations are: Lechería, Cueyamil, Los Agaves, Teyahualco, Prado Sur, Nextlalpan, Jaltocan and AIFA.
In terms of connections, Buenavista station will be connected to metro line B, while Lechería station will be connected to Mexibús line 5, thus expanding access options from different points.
