Ends in 2025 and the Jubilee of hope is coming to an end. The Jubilee Year celebrated by the universal Church over the last twelve months has seen a Closing Eucharist celebrated in the Cathedral of Seville by Archbishop José Ángel … Saiz Meneses, during which thanks were given for the fruits of this intense year for the Church of Seville and for all Catholics.
At six o’clock in the afternoon, Bells of the Giralda announcing the start of the Mass with which the archdiocese put the finishing touches to an ordinary jubilee, that of 2025, which, under the title “Pilgrims of Hope”will officially culminate the day after Epiphany, January 6, with the closing that Pope Leo XIV will officiate at St. Peter’s in the Vatican. This event brought together in Seville some 25,000 participants in the various meetings and Eucharists celebrated during the Holy Year.
The Eucharist was celebrated in the altar of the altar of Seo by Mgr Saiz Meneses and concelebrated by auxiliary bishop Teodoro León, in front of the image of Virgin of Kingspatroness of Seville and its archdiocese, and the stature of Christ crucified attributed to Juan Bautista Vázquez the Elder, who was venerated on the main altarpiece of the First Metropolitan Temple throughout the Jubilee Year and will soon be restored.

In the homily of the mass, which was attended and participated by many faithful, the archbishop called on the inhabitants of Seville to keep the spirit of pilgrimage alive and search for God with whom this last year was lived so intensely in a Jubilee which even included the image of the puppy in Rome: “As we end the jubilee year of hope, I invite you not to extinguish the flame, to continue to be pilgrims of hope.” Everything that happened during the Holy Year remains engraved in memories.
