The Sevilla Press publishing house continues its work publishing books dedicated to Sevillian traditions, especially in the world of brotherhoods. His latest work, ‘None like you’, available in bookstores since December 21, collect images of the Macarena … after the restoration carried out by Pedro Manzano.
This message includes three historical texts on Holy Week in Seville and the devotion to the Macarena, as well as the chronicle and the first photographs of the restored Macarena, during its presentation to the friars in the basilica and during the Centenary of the Kisses of the Hands in the parish of San Gil.
The publication brings together three historical texts that reflect the richness of Holy Week in Seville and the devotion to the Macarena: “How Seville Cries”, by Jesuit Father Ramón Cué; “Theory and reality of Holy Week in Seville”, written by the republican Antonio Núñez Herrera; and the emblematic proclamation of Antonio Rodríguez Buzón, from 1956. In addition, it includes verses from the Macarena by Juan Manuel Martos Núñez, Enrique Casellas and José Manuel Meléndez Camacho.
The images included in the book are the work of Fernando Salazar, Ángel Bajuelo and Daniel Valencia. This publication was possible thanks to the transfer of the copyright of these three texts by the Society of Jesus and the heirs of Antonio Núñez de Herrera and Antonio Rodríguez Buzón.
With curiosity, The last book which brings together all the photographs of the image of the Macarena before its restoration also belongs to this publishing house and continues to be sold under the title “Esperanza Macarena Rosa de Oro”, by Professor Juan Antonio Martos Núñez. The work includes more than 100 photographs of the kiss of hands in 2024, the presentation of the Golden Rose and the great procession of December 8, 2024, on the occasion of the closing of the II International Congress of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods.
