The striker suffered a serious injury against Tottenham in the Premier League and is expected to be out for several months.
Liverpool have confirmed the worst case scenario for Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker underwent surgery this Monday (22) after suffering a serious ankle injury, which included a fractured fibula, and will be out for several months. The problem occurred during the 2-1 victory against Tottenham in the Premier League.
The injury occurred during the first goal of the match. Isak was hit hard by Dutch defender Micky van de Ven as he finished. He received medical attention while still on the field and immediately left the match on suspicion of being seriously injured, confirmed after MRI scans.
Recruited from Newcastle during the last summer window for 150 million euros, Isak became the most expensive purchase in Liverpool’s history and the third in world football. In an official statement, the club informed that the player would continue the recovery process at the training center, but did not set a deadline for his return. The English press, however, anticipates a long period of absence.
Alexander Isak underwent successful surgery today on his injury sustained on Saturday.

In addition, the absence of Isak increases coach Arne Slot’s problems in the offensive sector. Mohamed Salah is serving with the Egyptian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Gakpo is still recovering from injury.
Finally, Isak played 16 games for Liverpool, scoring three goals and one assist. He scored for the first time against Southampton, in the English League Cup, scored in the Premier League against West Ham and scored again against Tottenham, in the match which ended with a serious injury.
