Lola distributes candy at a meeting in Planalto to apologize for being late

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva distributed banana sweets to representatives of the Science and Technology Council, to apologize for the delay at a meeting at Palacio do Planalto on Thursday.

The scene was shared by Lula’s social media profile. The President distributed sweets to all those present at the meeting table.

“I was late for the Science and Technology Council meeting, but to make up for it, I arrived with bananas for everyone. It’s worth an apology, isn’t it?” the post read.

Also participating in the meeting were Vice President and Minister of Industry, Development and Trade Geraldo Alckmin, Minister of Science and Technology Luciana Santos, Minister of the Civil House Rui Costa, and Minister of Defense José Mosío.

This was the sixth meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology (CCT). During the meeting, the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation (ENCTI) 2024-2034 was presented. The document outlines Brazilian science policy priorities for the next decade.

For President Lula, the implementation of the new National Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy strengthens the sector in the country.

– And in building a Brazil that is increasingly able to confront historical vulnerabilities, lead in strategic areas and transform knowledge into well-being for the entire population – Lula said during the meeting.
