Lotería del Valle prizes are subject to two main taxes at the time of withdrawal:
A withholding tax of 20% for occasional winnings, related to the total value of the prize, as established by the Colombian tax legislation and indicated by the DIAN (National Tax and Customs Directorate). This tax reduces the net amount received by the winner.
The Financial Movement Tax (4×1000), which affects financial transactions at the time of deposit or withdrawal of prize money. Although it is not deducted directly from winnings, it reduces the amount available as the money is moved.
For example, with a jackpot of 9 billion pesos, after these taxes are applied, the net value that the winner receives is significantly less, around 60-65% of the total gross. These taxes are mandatory and are withheld to comply with current tax regulations in Colombia.
