On December 9, Louis Ducruet went to the Louis-II stadium in Monaco with friends to watch a Champions League match between AS Monaco and Galatasaray of Türkiye. She saw him in the VIP room, enjoying with his friends … and without imagining that the meeting could end up in court. But it is so because only three days later, he found himself on the bench of the Monegasque criminal court with injuries to his face, torso and arms.
Versions of what happened differ, but the truth is that there was an altercation as the group which included Louis Ducruet was heading towards the toilets after the end of the match, won by Monaco 1-0. Apparently, a man identified as Salman B.. He allegedly said something in Turkish that the young people considered as an attack, thus triggering the confrontation.
However, Salman B. (who came from France with his father Hassan to attend the match) denies having become aggressive or having hit the young people. However, he claims one of Louis’ friends approached him in a dangerous manner and simply pushed him away. Then, he claims that Louis Ducruet grabbed him by the neck: “He was strangling me“I tried to defend myself.”
However, the president of the court then considers that the injuries to the face, torso and arms that the son of Stéphanie de Monaco would have suffered do not correspond. He explains his intervention thus: “I wanted to prevent the fight from degenerating, so I grabbed him from behind, by the chest and not by the neck, so that stop attacking my friend. They hit me in the face, chest and arms. The security guards and other well-meaning Turkish sympathizers intervened at the right time because when I let my guard down, I saw the son with his fist clenched, ready to hit me. I was afraid for my life because if he had hit me like that he would have left me unconscious on the ground. “I was afraid they would lynch me.”

“I’ve never hit anyone in my life; “I intervened to get my son out of this situation,” said Hassan B. The result would have been between two and four days of sick leave for Louis Ducruet and his friends, as well as one day for one of the two accused. The lawyer of nephew of Prince Albert of Monaco pointed out that the injuries indicate who hit whom: “No marks were found on the plaintiffs’ hands. In those of Salman B., we can clearly see the bruises caused by the blows. An official from the Monaco Red Cross, responsible for first aid services, witnessed the altercation, without knowing its origin.
Faced with this combination of accusations, the judge considered that Louis Ducruet and his friends acted with with moderation and not with violencefor which he considered the accused guilty. Father and son were sentenced to two months in prison and to pay 1,000 euros to each of the victims, in addition to being banned from entering Monaco for three years.
